It's been a while...
Wow, last time I wrote was on August 2. Where did August, September, and October go?
A LOT has happened since 8/2/10. I completed my first 5K on September 25 with a time of 40: 36. It was an UNBELIEVABLE feeling to cross that finish line!!!
I ran my 2nd 5K on October 16th with a time of 36:12....that's 4 minutes and 24 seconds better!!! I am now starting to train for a 10K and am just as nervous as I was when I started the 5K training.
School and work are keeping me extremely busy (in fact I should be writing papers for college right now, but I needed to take a break and breath for a moment) .
Next week will mark 7 months that my boyfriend and I have been dating...he's a pretty amazing guy :)
Something cute that I just have to share: The other night I saw my nephews for the first time in a couple weeks. They youngest, Jared, was giving me a hug and just rested his face on my shoulder and started sniffing me. When I asked what he was doing, he replied, "When I see you and hug you, I just have to smell you Aunt Kristi because you smell the same every time!" So I said, "uhh, I hope it's a good smell, Jared!" To which he stated, "Of course, it's an Aunt Kristi smell, I love it!"
Oh my, my heart melted :)

Becoming a runner...
So today I started Week 4 of the C25k program :) I woke up excited that it was a run day and actually looking forward to challenging myself and seeing how well I did.
Shoes have been feeling great on my feet, glad that the podiatrist recommended the
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10!!!

I finished it...and it felt good. Tired more than I have been on past run days, but it makes sense since I ran 1.25 miles out of the 2 miles I did today.
Proud of myself.
Only 3 days of summer school left...looking forward to enjoying the last few days before school starts and I go back to work full time.

Legacy, Love, and Anniversaries
On August 1, 1948 my maternal grandparents got married.
On my grandparents' 23rd anniversary, August 1, 1971, my mom and dad got married.
On my grandparent's 50th and my parents' 27th anniversary, August 1, 1998, my brother and sister-n-law got married.
Today is August 1, 2010.
If they were alive, today would be 62 yrs for my grandparents.
Today marks 39 yrs for my parents.
Today marks 12 yrs for my brother and his wife.
A whole lot of legacy and love and hard work is represented by this day.
You might ask, well what about you, Kristi?
I don't have an anniversary because I have yet to get married.
I hope one day it will be my turn.
Will it be August 1st? That remains to be seen.

Bleh..
Went swimming this morning with my nephews..great fun...they are always a joy to be around!
Feeling kind of bleh and down right now...not exactly sure why either...
Trying to keep a positive perspective.
Trying to be content and not want what I don't have.
Trying to be in the moment and not constantly looking to the future.
Trying to rest in His peace and His will and not be driven by my own insecurities and will.
Trying, trying, trying.

Hmmm...
So...last night I ran/walked for 40 minutes. Up to running 3 minute intervals...doesn't sound like much, but if you've never been a distance runner...it is a lot. Lungs felt good, knees felt good, blood was pumping and the heart was beating fast. Found some more upbeat podcasts to listen to and that helped greatly with my momentum and energy level. I even ran for an extra 2 minutes after I was done the day's program.
In one month from today I will be turning 33 and starting my first grad school class...exciting, overwhelming, scary, thought provoking. It sure isn't where I pictured myself at 33 when I was a little girl, but that doesn't mean it's not a fulfilling life or that I'm not happy...quite the contrary =)
